Do you know any hippies?
In July 2012 our daughter Amy and her husband threw a hippie-themed party for George’s 60th birthday. These are some of the photos I took, but the best pics were taken by Paparazzi Paul, which you can see in the original post about the party.
This photo of Mike and Barbara is one of my favorites. I love their tie-dye clothes, their headbands, and Barbara’s candy cigarette. They look like real hippies, but they’re regular fun-lovin’ folks.
Welcome, Jim and Linda! They went to an upscale thrift store the day of the party and found these cool threads.
Paper lanterns hanging from the old plum tree added more color.
Friends and relatives of all ages came from near and far to celebrate.
Good times! We partied into the night.
George’s old-time friends.
Peace out, man!

This post is part of The Daily Post’s Weekly Photo Challenge. After seven years of photo challenges, this is the last installment. The theme is All-Time Favorites.
I hope you enjoyed my psychedelic favorites.
When George turned 40 in 1992, I threw the first hippie-themed party, and we got some great video clips of it. For more hippie fun (and ideas to throw your own hippie party), here you go:
What are your thoughts? Do these photos make you dizzy? Do you like parties with themes that make themΒ livelier? Have you ever known a real hippy? I’d love to hear from you!Β
How groovy, man! The photos are terrific. I love a good themed party!! π
Fer sure, man. Parties with a good theme are perfect ice breakers for strangers to mingle and have a great time. Peace out, Yvette!
Oh my gosh – how fun!! What cool stuff people came up with. I love the thrift shop outfits.

I know, people came up with the grooviest costumes. I, too, love the thrift shop outfits. Those were an awesome find. Thanks for stopping in, Patricia!
π Wow! Cool images! π
Thank you, HappyFace313. I’m so glad you enjoyed the pics!
Love the pics, Lynn, and the video. So sad to see so many who have passed on…but the hippie parties were a lot of fun, indeed. Far out π
I thought the same thing, Pambelina, about those who have passed. It makes these clips even more priceless than when I first took them. You and Cindy were the life of the party!
Damned hippies!
No kidding, Steve. Hahahahahaha!
Looks like a groovy time!
Hey, Lynn….Hope it’s not too late to leave a comment on this post! Things have been especially hectic lately, but I had to tell you I LOVED all those groovy pictures! Looks like a terrific, FUN party!! And George DOES, indeed, look like David Crosby!! Along with that, I wanted to share with you about our daughter Gail’s friend, teacher, and mentor (on the guitar,) Tony. He, too, looked just like David Crosby! Sadly, the died suddenly and unexpectedly about two years ago, and that’s when Gail stepped in as music director for the Folk Group/choir at 9:30 Mass—-something she never thought she’d be doing. Anyway, when she married Steve 19 years ago, of course Tony and his group at the time did the music. And many of her friends said (jokingly)…”Wow…that was so cool. You had David Crosby doing the music at your wedding.” We always remember that, and I thought I’d share it with you. π
Hi Marge! It’s never too late to leave comments. Thanks so much for sharing about Gail’s friend. Great story that people thought David Crosby played the music at her wedding! Yay for Gail stepping in as music director. I’m sorry to hear Tony passed unexpectedly a couple years ago. π
Thanks, Lynn. Seems like there’s a lot of David Crosby “look-alikes” around!
George is the only Crosby look-alike I’ve known, but now that he let his beard grow out, he looks more like a garden gnome than David Crosby! Haha!
