Retro Jewelry Haul – Part 2 – Carved Animals and Wood Pieces

Do you like animal or wood jewelry pieces?

Lynn Kelley, Grammy Gets It, Retro Jewelry Haul

This is Part 2 of my Retro Jewelry Haul from an Estate Sale. These pieces have wood beads or animals, although some are imposters and are actually made of plastic.

If you missed Part 1 of the Retro Jewelry Haul – Cute or Ugly (bangles and beads), you can read it here.

This first necklace is odd in many ways. I don’t know if I missed a trend or fashion, but lopsided or uncentered necklaces don’t appeal to me. How about you?

There is one saving grace to this piece. The wooden tiger can spin if you flick it with your finger. Therefore, the necklace would appeal to a child and could be quite useful to shush a noisy toddler if you’re at a restaurant or in a crowded church.

Would you wear this necklace?

Here’s the video below if you want to get a closer look at all these jewelry pieces and discover concrete proof I am a genuine, 100% goofball:

This next piece is one of my favorites. Winner winner chicken dinner! If you’re a jungle animal fan, this might appeal to you. Check it out. There’s a rhinoceros, hippopotamus, elephant, zebra, and leopard.

Like the first necklace with the spinning tiger, each of the animals on this necklace can spin, too.

Some of the beads on this necklace are flat, so they’d be great to use for arts and crafts projects.

The drawback to this piece is . . . oh, no!

Tell me that bead didn’t just fall off.

Lynn Kelley, Grammy Gets It, Jewelry Haul

It did. It fell off right in front of your eyes. Only, it’s a bean, not a bead. Obviously a very, very old bean on a very, very old necklace.

Even worse than the bean falling off, after I recorded the video and planned to entertain my two-year-old granddaughter with this animal necklace, the head to the zebra broke off.

A headless zebra might traumatize a two-year-old, but what ticks me off is these animals aren’t carved wood. Nope. They’re made of some type of hard plastic or resin. I’m so glad I didn’t pay 500 bucks for that necklace, thinking someone spent months carving those intricate pieces.

Next up, a bracelet with five strands of beads. What do you think? Do you like it?

My youngest sister, Cindy, is a fashionista who knows how to accessorize like a pro. I don’t have a knack for putting outfits and jewelry together.

Actually, if you tell me I shouldn’t mix one thing with another, it’s likely to trigger the rebel in me just to get a rise out of the fashion police. How about you? Are you a fashion rebel, too?

This next bracelet is light weight, but it’s bulky, so I wouldn’t wear it. Would you?

This next necklace might be perfect to wear with a tropical-themed outfit.

Some of the beads are wooden, but the other parts are probably made of plastic. I don’t think I’ll ever wear this. The flat pieces will be perfect to glue onto craft projects, like altered art books, or boxes, jars, or a picture frame.

There are lots of crafts we can enhance with pieces of jewelry.

Look at this striped, wooden bracelet. It matches the zebra on the animal necklace. Maybe I’m not too bad at matching jewelry pieces, after all. 🙂

This next necklace looks like something you’d get as a free prize in a box of cereal or at a carnival. Dinky and cheap-looking. Not sure I’d even use it for a craft project.

This next piece is supposed to imitate ivory, but it’s cheap plastic. If I ever run a white-elephant booth, I’d wear it just for grins and giggles.

Here’s another necklace with elephants. And beads. Multiple strands of beads and elephants.

Perfect to wear on a safari.

Stylish? Yea or nay?

Lynn Kelley, Grammy Gets It, Retro Jewelry HaulYou’ve been a good sport to stick it out to the end of this post.

What are your thoughts? Are these jewelry pieces cute or ugly? Better or worse than the ones featured in Part 1? What kind of jewelry do you like to wear?

I’d love to hear from you!
