Funny Lady’s Take on Till Death Do We Part – Parenting Plights & Delights

Need a good laugh? I’ve found a new funny lady.

Here’s a three-and-a-half minute video of Mrs. Hughes. This is the first time I’ve heard her. I think she’s a hoot. The part about her son is the funniest.

I realize humor is subjective, so I hope Mrs. Hughes tickles your funny bone.

If you’re an Erma Bombeck fan, you’ll probably like Mrs. Hughes, at least the part about her son. Her cracks about marriage remind me of Rodney Dangerfield’s humor.

Here’s a couple amusing quotes:

My second favorite household chore is ironing. My first one being hitting my head on the top bunk bed until I faint. ~Erma Bombeck

Ha! Yep, I can relate to the plight of bunk beds.

Adolescence is perhaps nature’s way of preparing parents to welcome the empty nest.  ~Karen Savage

I completely concur!

What are your thoughts? Do you think Mrs. Hughes is entertaining? Who’s your favorite comedian?

I’d love to hear from you.

Ha ha ha, she is one funny woman! I am an Erma Bombeck fan, and Mrs Hughes is right up there with her!

  2. Patricia says:

I love the video!! Comedy is something I’ve always thought I’d be good at. I can deadpan very, very well. And I’m quite sarcastic. But, those 2 things alone do not a comedian make.

    Thanks for sharing.

    • I’m so glad you enjoyed the video, Patricia. Your blog posts are funny, so I think you do have what it takes to be a comedian. Especially if you can deadpan well. It’s hard for me to keep a straight face. Practicing is the key. You could do some videos, upload them to YouTube, and use them as blog posts. I’d LOVE to see that! That would be cool if your video went viral!

  3. She was pretty funny and I laughed, but the Hiawatha comment stopped me… Is that politically correct? Maybe I misunderstood. Otherwise, I thought she was entertaining. But there’s no one like Erma. I still miss her.

    • I had to replay the video to see what she said about Hiawatha. I think it’s okay because she wasn’t poking fun at the original Hiawatha but was poking fun at the girlfriend who has an unusual name. Maybe it isn’t PC, but it didn’t come across that way to me. I was more focused on the eyebrow piercing part.

No, there’s no one like Erma, that’s for sure. She was such a gem. I think she’s sorely missed. Thanks for stopping in, Maria. What a treat!
