Airheads Anonymous – Losing Things

Are you one of those people who’s always losing things?

The other day Jennifer Lynn Bryan Spotten said, “Ok friends, when you’re painting along, and you can’t find your favorite little texture sponge, and think you’re crazy, ‘cause you just had it!

I think it’s time for some wine!

How well I know that feeling, Jennifer. I, myself, have a knack for losing things. Especially my cell phone.

That reminds me of my sister Cindy’s story about the time she had just finished washing her car and needed to make a phone call. Her cell was in her purse, but she couldn’t find it and couldn’t remember where she had put it when they got home from church that morning.

She borrowed her husband’s cell to call her phone. She listened for it while walking from one room to another, all through the house, garage, patio, and even her car, but no trace of her purse and no sound from her cell phone. Over and over she called her cell, but still couldn’t”t find it.

Then it dawned on her, “What if I left it at church?” She had attended the first service at 9:00 a.m., which was hours prior. She rushed to the church, hoping to arrive before they locked up after the second service.

Pastor Larry’s wife, Shirley, greeted my sister as she entered the foyer.

“I think I left my purse here,” Cindy said.

“So you’re the one?”

“What do you mean?” Cindy said. Then she figured it out. “Oh, no, was it ringing during the service?”

“Yes, it kept ringing through the sermon,” Shirley said. “Everyone was looking around to see whose phone it was.” She was good natured as she explained what happened. “Finally, Pastor Larry held his fingers up to his ear and pretended to answer a phone. ‘Hello? Hello?’ he said, and everyone laughed.”

Cindy apologized profusely and felt terrible, especially because her purse was in the front row, right in front of Pastor Larry.

Shirley assured Cindy it was okay. They were able to laugh about it after the fact.
