Snoring – Parenting Plights & Delights

Kids think snoring is funny. So do I, which is why I taught Grasshopper, my toddler grandson, to pretend snore. The other day he was lying on the floor looking at his shadow on the wall and he did his pretend snore. What a crack up, but, darn, I didn’t catch it on video.

Just after my daughter bought a baby monitor that has a camera, I got a great clip of him snoring in his crib. I had fun making this video and found the perfect quote to add at the end. This video is a good one for your kids to watch, too.

Baby’s Funny Snoring

He was 21 months here.

As it turns out, I wasn’t the only one teaching Grasshopper to pretend snore. His daddy and some of his other grandparents were teaching him, too, unknown to me, so he caught on quickly.

How about you? Is this something you taught your child or grandchild, nieces, or nephews?

Dads usually bear the brunt of snoring jokes, but some moms, toddlers, babies, and even cats and dogs snore.

I found this unusual video on YouTube in my search for baby’s funny snoring. It’s “different,” and since the title is “Snoring Baby Ghost,” don’t share this with little kids because of the “ghost” part. It’s only 21 seconds long.

Okay, three’s a charm. This is a hilarious 28 second video of a dog’s funny snoring and perfect to share with your kids:

Beck Snores Like Daffy Duck

Which video is your favorite? For those of you who think snoring is funny, you’re in good company. There are lots of funny videos on YouTube about snoring, so I’ll share more with you in a future post.

Heads up: Β Sleep apnea is a serious condition, and heavy snoring is one of the symptoms. If you think you or someone you know might have it, you can read about it here. If you don’t already know about sleep apnea, you’ll learn that there’s nothing funny about it.

I hope you got a few giggles from the videos. Do you snore? Just kidding. You don’t have to answer that. Surely, you know someone who does snore?

I have to admit that my allergies cause me to snore, and sometimes I’ve snored so loud that I woke myself up! How’s that for a random act of weirdness?

  1. Too cute!!! Yep – I definitely taught my nieces and great nieces fake snoring. They find it hilarious! Now it’s time to teach the great nephews. πŸ™‚ BTW…that dog video is funny!

  2. Too funny. I never thought of teaching someone to snore.

  3. Oh my gosh, Lynn, the ghost baby one about gave me a heart attack!! Your grandson’s fake snore is great! The dog was hilarious…snores just like an older man. πŸ˜‰

  4. Joy Dent says:

My husband says I snore, but I don’t believe him!!! ☺

  5. Piper Bayard says:

I absolutely do not snore. That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it. πŸ™‚

  6. The dog is hilarious.
Neither my wife nor I snore, but my parents do. When visiting them, I’m really thankful bedrooms aren’t next to each other.

  7. Patricia says:

Unfortunately, I do snore, not all the time and usually for only a very short period of time. I end up waking myself up usually.

Now my dog – holy crap. That dog can snore. And he shakes while he’s doing it. It’s like his whole body convulses. And sometimes he whisper barks. Must be chasing rabbits or something. He’s something else.

The the videos. The dog one is my favorite.

  8. LOL @ the dog video, especially her flapping jowls! One of my dogs snores–sometimes really loud! It can be really annoying if I’m writing, but otherwise it’s funny.

  9. Nas says:

Lol! I’m always accused of snoring but I don’t believe!

    Cute videos.

    • Lynn Kelley says:

Nas – Isn’t that funny when someone tells us we snore but we don’t believe them. I just thought people were joking about my snoring, until it got so bad, I woke myself up and realized it was me snoring so loud! Heehee!

  10. The dog snoring was hilarious! I hate those ghoulish video morphs, they get me every time.
When my husband snores, I wear earplugs. End of problem (for me at least). He is adamant he doesn’t need help, because snoring is manly and normal.

    • Sarah, earplugs is a great idea if they don’t bother you. I don’t think I could sleep with earplugs. Your hubby is funny, saying snoring is manly and normal! So it’s okay for men but not becoming when women snore? Heehee! I’d like to get his take on that!

  11. LOVED the dog video. My little 14 pound maltese can bring the house down! He also passes gas in his sleep πŸ™‚ Hope the new grandbabies are good.

  12. I don’t ever remember anyone teaching me to fake snore. My husband tries to trick me all the time when he is laying on the couch and he tries to fake snore. But I know how he sounds when he is really snoring (on occasion he snores) and he doesn’t fake it right. πŸ™‚

Great video of your grandbaby. I didn’t see the ghost one coming! I jumped!

    • Stephanie, what a hoot that your husband tries to fake snore, but you’re on to him! I love it! Glad you enjoyed the video of Grasshopper. I didn’t see the ghost one coming either. It got me good, so I had to share the fun with you guys!

  13. That ghost one gave me a serious fright! The dog snore is definitely my fav – funny how it’s much cuter in kids and animals πŸ™‚

    • Alarna, I hope you recovered quickly from the fright! I fell for it, too, and loved it. I couldn’t resist adding it to my post! πŸ™‚ And the dog snoring is a riot! Yes, snoring is cuter in kids and animals.
